From the recording Forward Through Forests

Lyrics

I've been here before:
the target and the trigger.
On the down-and-out,
I chamber rounds that feel like fear.

Carrying the world, I'm lost outside the moment;
and I'm everywhere but here.

I've spent too many anxious days
facing the barrel of a gun -
no light within the tunnel,
nowhere to run.
Can't live my yesterdays again,
or tie the threads that lie undone:
I leave it all behind, and walk into the Sun.

It's been endless days waiting in the nightfall,
under clouds that hide the stars, and now I find:
world's open up over the horizon,
and if nothing's sure, it's sure that there's still time.

I've been caught up too many times,
tongue-tied, glass-eyed and falling.
Written in my skin, the lines that cross
when I'm not all in.

I'm forever counting time,
got to leave to arrive.
I find myself there,
when I leave myself behind.
